Phone port not charging

Is my cellphone’s charging port broken

Most of us can agree that our mobile phones are a pivotal part of our daily lives. From contacting your family and friends to shopping, banking, and everything in between, smartphones have become a survival tool more than anything else! This is why it can be devastating when our trusty devices fail us when we need them most.

Is my cellphone charging port faulty or filthy?

Battery life and charging issues can be particularly irksome, especially when you don’t know what the problem is. If your phone isn’t charging properly, it could simply be a faulty charger. The other, more serious issue could be that there is a problem with your charging port.

But, before you hand over your hard-earned cash to someone promising you a quick fix, you should probably do your homework and make sure that it’s not just dirty!

Four signs that your cellphone charging port has become clogged

Dirt can accumulate from a variety of sources, including dust, pet hair, and, believe it or not, dead skin cells. The tiny particles get caught in your charging port, preventing the connections from making contact.

Signs of your charging port needs cleaning:

1. Your Phone Charging Slowly
The first and most obvious sign of a charging port in need of cleaning is if your phone suddenly takes an eternity to charge!

2. Charging Only Happens At The “Right Angle”
If you’ve gotten to the point where you’re having to find weird and wonderful angles to charge your phone, it’s more than likely that there is a fair amount of dirt in your charging port that needs to be cleaned.

3. The Charging Cable Keeps Popping Out of the Charging Port
If your charger won’t stay plugged in or, worse, won’t fit inside the port at all, it’s most likely due to an excessive buildup of dirt particles. The buildup in your charging port is what’s preventing the charger from making a connection and will continue to be faulty until it has been cleaned.

4. No Charge….At All!
If it gets bad enough, your phone will stop charging completely.

So how can I clean my cellphone charging port?

First and foremost, we don’t recommend that you blow into the port or use a tool, like tweezers, to remove the dirt. There is little chance that it will work, and you risk further damaging your phone.

We’ve honestly seen it all over the years, so trust us when we say that taking your phone to a professional is the best course of action. In addition to having the right tools, they are well-versed in assessing the damage and determining what needs to be done to get it working again.
